“Don’t Settle”

I had finished my meeting with my friend and was hanging around to do some work. Sometimes I enjoy working outside in a coffee shop. It’s a change of scenery and that can make me more productive. On weekdays during the day, you will have an older crowd; what I refer to as the retired crowd. In the evenings and weekends, it’s a takeover by students. This was a weekday evening. Thus, it was jammed with students.

   “This is a great story to remind us that we are each unique and very special”
A water bearer in China had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which he carried across his neck.

One pot had a crack in it, while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water. At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water to his house.

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect for which it was made.

But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to…

Dream

He remarked something negative; something he hadn’t done in a long time.

She looked at him and said “No, you can’t.”

Then she pointed to his dream board. “This is your dream.”

He didn’t say anything. “I put it back up for you.  So you don’t forget.”

Believe in me

We were in conversation about something. I don’t really remember what it was but I remember what she said when I mentioned what I wanted. She said “I think you will do it. I think you’re the type of person that.. once you set your heart on something, you will follow through and you will get it.” I didn’t necessarily agree nor disagree.
