George was obsessed with Karen. Well perhaps not obsessed. But for the longest time George was pursuing Karen. He had asked her out numerous times but they were mainly friends. At least that’s how Karen saw it. It’s the standard story of when one person friend-zones the other.
George didn’t give up though. He still hung around hoping she would change her mind. It went on like this for quite some time. But as much as he liked her, even George was getting tired. He decided it was time to let it go and move on. He distanced himself from her a bit and only saw her occasionally as friends. He even started to date another girl a few months later. Things didn’t work out with the other girl but it seemed George was finally over Karen.
Not too long after George started dating, Karen started to miss having George around. When they hung out, she started to see him as more than a friend. Had she missed out she thought? Was it a coincidence? Why didn’t she see anything in him before?
George would still hang out with Karen and now he knew she liked him. But he wasn’t interested. Still, they would do things that suggest they were dating. However, George was happy to hang out with other girls in “date like fashion” while keeping Karen around. The tables had been reversed and not only that, Karen was a bit jealous. She wanted to “win him back”. It was clear that George just enjoyed being in the position of power. He liked being in control and he was happy to string her along.
I don’t know how the rest of this story turned out, but many times we just want what we can’t have.Perhaps it was a timing issue and Karen does genuinely like George now. Or perhaps she just wants the forbidden fruit.
